Dream Big

I'm back in North America now, enjoying the lush green grass and beautiful blue sky, but alas, my grandparents house has no internet to speak of.  Anyway, I found this on a poster and thought I'd share with you.  Dream big.

Bon Iver: Amazing with Beards

Bon Iver is one of my favorite artists by far.  Their music is really chill and beautiful, and I love love love how like Mumford & Sons, they make full use of the fact that they are an all guys band to sing really intense harmonies.  And they have beards.  Yes.
One of my favorite songs of theirs is "Skinny Love", which has these really cool guitar strumming parts in it.  Recently, the 15 year old British phenomenon Jasmine Van den Bogaerde (AKA Birdy) did a cover of this song, which although it had a bit of a different vibe from the original one, was also astoundingly listenable and enjoyable.  Below, I've posted both versions so you can decide which one you prefer.

Look of the Day: Cameron Diaz

Generally, Cameron Diaz does decently on the red carpet.  She manages to choose reliable cuts, colours, and prints to avoid getting on too many worst dressed lists, but always seems to fall just short of the very best dressed lists.  Today however, she decided that she'd had enough of that.  She greeted the press in London for her movie Bad Teacher looking sexy, sophisticated, and oh so put together in cropped J Brand pants and a wonderful black blouse.  Her look was further enhanced by a pair of Casadei pumps and a beautiful gold Ann Taylor bracelet.  Check out the look below to see whether you love it as much as I do.

J'aime Parfum

I love love love perfume.  It's amazing how such glorious mixtures of aromas from fragrant oils can produce not just amazing fragrances, but also can conjure up vivid ideas or memories in one's mind.  Perfume can change a person's outlook, their whole personality.  That is why I am posting, to give you a peek at my favorite fragrances.  I wish computers had a scratch and smell feature, so that you could fully enjoy what I have to show you, but alas maybe in 2030 or something.  For now, devour with your eyes.

Ivoire De Balmain Mini by Pierre Balmain
(Eau de Toilette) for Women 1979
This stuff is amazing, seriously. It has
a soft floral smell, but is also intensely creamy.
I found a bottle on my mom's shelf that she had bought
back when it first came out in 1979,
and surprisingly there was still some left! Oh, the
Chanel No. 5 by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel
(Eu de Parfum) for Women 1921
Now this perfume is the ultimate classic, for classy and
sophisticated women since the early 1920s.
It reminds me of glamourous ladies in evening gowns,
sort of old Hollywood.
CK In2U by Calvin Klein (Eau de Toilette)
for Women 2007
CK In2U is obviously a pretty new
fragrance, but let me tell you it
smells like a million bucks.  It's such
a sexy, spicy, youthful scent that seems to
shout freedom and vitality.
Burberry Brit Perfume by Burberry
(Eau de Toilette) for Women 2003
Firstly, I love this bottle.  Secondly,
this perfume is really fun and fruity and
extremely bold.  It's a fun, sexy, and unique scent.
The One Perfume by Dolce & Gabbana (Eau de Parfum)
for Women 2006
This is a magnificent fragrance in an equally
magnificent bottle.  It's super fruity with notes
of mandarin, peach, lychee, jasmine, and plum.
It also though has hints of vanilla, amber, musk,
and vetiver making it intensely dark and woody
as well.

William & Kate Look Gorgeous for the Queen's Official Birthday

Prince William and Duchess Catherine (AKA the lovely Kate Middleton) rode through central London on Saturday as part of Will's grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's official birthday celebration.  Apparently, the Queen actually turned 85 in April, but the public party for the Queen is held on a Saturday in June since the weather is better.  Go Figure.  I wish I had two birthdays so that I could get double the gifts so that the weather could always be nice on it.  Anyway, I just thought Will, and more especially Kate, looked their usual stunning selves.  Kate wore a sophisticated ivory jacket and black hat, which has fast become one of her iconic pieces.  Will on the other hand, wore the same red Irish Guards tunic with a blue sash that he wore at his wedding, and looked dashing (even with the furry hat).  I've posted some pictures below for you to enjoy.

A Brilliant Photographer's Take of Paris in the (Sort of) Springtime

I realize summer has hit in full now, at least where I live.  So, the title of this blog entry may seem strange to you.  However, please bear with me and soldier on as I explain.
GQ Magazine's Wandering Eye (AKA Gordon von Steiner) is right up on my list of favorite fashion photographers, along with of course The Sartorialist.  In April (yes I know, how very uncurrent of me), he put together an album on GQ Style that I did not find until yesterday, which is a compilation of photogs of fashionable Parisians in spring.  It was however, too fantastic not to blog about, so I decided to go for it.  In explanation, Mr. Gordon von Steiner wrote as his caption for the album, "Transitioning from the avalanche that was this winter to whatever-this-is-now can be tricky...unless you're a devil-may-care Parisian."  Expertly said Mr. Steiner, expertly said.  Anyway, here is a few beautious specimens from the album that I hope you will enjoy thoroughly.

Simple outfit livened up with striking yellow. Love.
Yum. Nice Scarf.
Love the colour of the pants, and the big shoes too.  And the hair.
Great sunglasses, scarf, and jacket combo.
Love how the jacket goes so well with the snakeskin.
Classic in black. What a beauty.
OMG love these guys' look (except the mustaches that is!)
Business sexy casual.
