H&M Making the Switch to Sustainable Fashion

I love H&M.  Their stuff is indisputably gorgeous, especially for the relatively good prices you pay.  Also, it being a Swedish company, many of the executive staff have amazing accents (did I mention I love a good, thick European accent?).  Now too, they are making a push to more sustainable fashion by using organic cotton and other more ecologically friendly fabrics and materials, which I wholeheartedly salute them for.  Below, I've attached a video of H&M just explaining what they do as a brand to help towards a more sustainable fashion industry.  Hope you enjoy!

Bad Girl Gone Worse

I realize that I've been continually gushing about my favorite outfits, looks, or fashionistas, without any major dissing or criticism being done.  There are however, numerous people who deserve to be criticized and who should never go outside again, as long as they look the way they do.  Sadly, pretty near number one on that list, is the dear Ms. Rihanna.  She isn't a 'Good Girl Gone Bad.'  She's a Bad Girl Gone Worse.
God, I hate this woman's tacky tacky style, but even more, I hate her heinous, god-awful hair.  Throughout the years, it has changed quite a bit, but every new hairstyle is worse than the one before.  Incase you have lived under a rock for the last decade, I've put some pictures below to demonstrate just how terrible Rihanna usually looks.  Enjoy, or rather, cringe.

Oh my gosh, the hair! It's red and curly and soooo disgusting.  So So So very disgusting.
And that barely there dress is showing quite a bit more than I ever want to see of her.
Here's another example of disgusting hair: shaved around the sides and shaggy in front
and dyed in the most horrendous... *oh crap I have to go throw up*.
The necklace too is just weird and ugly.
Ok, if you can manage to peek at this hair without clawing your eyes out, you will have to
agree this is pretty darn terrible.  A mohawk with the top dyed blonde!?!?!
NO! That's just soo wrong.
Dear Rihanna, please stop, for the sake of all of us.
W.H.A.T A.R.E Y.O.U W.E.A.R.I.N.G?
That terrible tied tank-top with a random slogan and ill-fitting ballerina skirt make
me want to cry.  And again, the red hair just adds another notch of tackiness to this outfit.
Oh dear, this dress is a nightmare.  It's shapeless and lifeless and those roses look like they
are ready to choke her at any time.

Summer Mash-Up AKA *Hint Hint* My Birthday Was Yesterday and You Didn't Get Me Anything!

In honor of my birthday and everyone getting out of school for summer break except for me, I compiled a few pieces I wouldn't mind having for my summer wardrobe.  Ok, more accurately, I'm drooling.  Anyway, enjoy these scrumptious pieces.

These Louboutins are sooooo gorgeous.

These Charlotte Olympia Nude Pumps are also drool worthy.

Love Nautical tanktops. Love them.

Tortoise Wayfarers are the best sunglasses ever. EVER.

Ok, so this may be a bit more spring, but it's a blue and white striped Nautica shirt.  Enough said.

White skinny jeans are like a synonym for summer .

The little white dress is a MUST for summer, and personally, it's my absolute favorite piece.

A fabulous horn bracelet creation by Ms. Ashley Pittman, inlaid with stunning turquoise stone pieces
Another breathtaking Ashley Pittman black horn bracelet with turquoise that I have fallen in love with

Here's another beautiful bracelet, a beautiful hinged wood bangle by Marc Jacobs

A RAD deco spiral ring by Elizabeth and James is one of my '"to-die-for" items!

This ring too is so so so so so ridiculously fabulous!

OMG, I love this turquoise necklace.  OK, I think you may have noticed by now, I like most turquoise jewelry.

I need a beach bag, and I really like the nautical feeling of this one.

So this is a little far fetched, but if I could have any bag, it would be a black snake skin Hermes Birkins Bag.

Alright, that's it for my birthday wish list.  Oh, and feel free to buy me one or all of the above items.  Just kidding.  Hope you enjoyed drooling over these.

Food For Thought

I've been thinking about willpower and how a person can succeed in life, and I came across these fantastic quotes that really strike home for me.  Seriously, these guys were brilliant.

"The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack in will."
Vince Lombardi

"We are still masters of our fate.
We are still captains of our souls."

Nothing Gold Can Stay

I love the book The Outsiders, such a classic.  If you haven't read it yet, you must. Makes me cry every time.  There's this poem in it, Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost, that is so beautiful.  I hope it makes you think about life and how we can't turn back and we can't stay once we've gone forward.  We must endeavor to stay 'gold', because our wrongs can't be undone.

Nothing Gold Can Stay
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Couture at Cannes

The 64th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has begun, and there's a lot of excitement on the Croisette this year: While yes, some of the movies look extremely promising, it's the gorgeous lads and ladies walking the red carpets that have caught my attention.  Below are a couple of my favorite looks so far. Enjoy!

Mia Wasikowska in the soft Valentino gown looking beautiful.  She always manages to embody the idea of soft femininity, especially here.
Aishwarya Rai in Armani PrivĂ© looking so so so devine.  The structure and elegance of the gown is absolutely stunning.
Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace, appearing as her usual sexy self.  Although there's nothing extremely bold about the gown, it works very well on Ms. Jolie.
Karolina Kurkova in Armani PrivĂ© looking absolutely radiant.   The colour makes her sparkle (literally) and I love how she uses her bare neck as an accessory, along with the subtle yet sophisticated jewelry.
Sonam Kapoor in an absolutely magnificent Jean Paul Gaultier creation.  The structure and pattern are astounding.  I love how the sheer outer section flows out around her, while the white dress hugs her hips beautifully providing layering and structure.

What's Better Than Carey Mulligan's Wit and Charm, Pre-Raphaelite Art, the 1960s, and French, French, and more French?

I know I should have wrote this back when the movie actually came out, but I actually didn't watch it until yesterday night.  I'm talking about the most fantastic movie I've watched this whole year, that is 'An Education.'  When Ms. Mulligan first steps on to the screen as young Jenny in the beginning, I nearly screamed with delight.  Never have I seen a movie where the screenplay feels exquisitely modern despite its gorgeously rendered 1960s setting.  And when Mulligan first spoke, I knew already that I was going to fall in love with this movie.  Nick Hornby, who wrote the screenplay, keeps the movie light and at times playful, yet delves insightfully into the perils of near-adulthood that Mulligan is thrust into.  Peter Sarsgaard as David is also a fantastic actor, appearing both appealing and creepy at the same time.  The scenes of London and Paris add an additional glow to this already entrapping movie.
Mulligan's acting however, is the best part of this whole thing, portraying with accuracy Jenny's grasp of French, love of French films, French music, French cigarettes, art, jazz clubs, and yearning for freedom and colour in her seemingly dull English life.  And she makes you fall in love with her and this movie, over and over again.

Gorgeous dress she's wearing, and gorgeous hair.

Chanel Cruise for 2012: Karl Lagerfeld Stuns Again

Karl Lagerfeld returned to France to present his latest Cruise collection for Chanel, which was unveiled 2 days ago to a crowd including Blake Lively, Alexa Chung , Vanessa Paradis, Anna Mouglalis, Caroline Sieber and Clemence Poesy.  Below are some pictures from the eventful day. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

The beautiful setting for the unveiling of the collection at Hotel du Cap in Antibes.

The Met Gala: The Best Dressed Guests

Here is my list (in no particular order) of the guests at the Gala, who dazzled as they stepped out onto the red carpet. Enjoy!

Dianna Agron
Dianna Agron looked demure and stylish in this exquisitely modern Michael Kors column dress.  The red colour and clean shape of the dress look fabulous on her, and I love the long gold bangle on her left hand.
Ashley Greene
I was actually surprised when I saw this, but gradually I fell in mad love with it.  This custom-made Donna Karan gown that Ashley wore was both magnificent and softly feminine.  The silver detailing adds colour to make this dress fascinating, and the oversized earrings also look gorgeous.
Crystal Renn
Crystal wore a gorgeous black and blue ruffled gown from Alexander McQueen's archive.  My favorite part of this look though, is her giesha-inspired hairdo.
Blake Lively
Blake Lively looked fabulous in this Chanel Couture piece.   Although this could be a potentially risky look, Blake pulls it off whith style.
Gisele Bundchen
Gisele looked absolutely radiant in this gorgeous red Alexander McQueen gown.  It accents her fabulous body, making her tower supreme over all around her.
Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson
Diane Kruger looked both daring and glamorous in this  floor length dress slashed to the thigh by Jason Wu.  Joshua Jackson too, looked the epitome of class in a classic Dior tuxedo with beautiful white lining.
Kate Winslet
Kate looked very put together in this black Stella McCartney lace and stretch gown.  Her detailed black clutch and silver earrings really add to the dress to give this look a sophisticated flare.
