Fashion. Love, Africa

"Fashion. love, Africa designs and purchases hand knitted bags constructed from post consumer plastic bags gathered and woven by female residents living in the garbage slum of Nakuru, Kenya.  Each bag is purchased directly from the woman who constructed it, allowing her a consistent source of income."

The idea behind this project is gold, the name is great, and their website is beautiful. But why do so many great projects like this fail to produce products I would actually buy? I don't mean to be cruel, indeed the way this project is helping the women in Kenya is inspiring, but the bags look at best only okay. I mean, c'mon. About the only thing I would use these bags for are the beach. The colours of the bags are vibrant and bold, but the bag in itself just looks out of place and fails to deliver.
